Circuit Training is Here!

In today's fast-paced world, many of us are looking for a workout that is both effective and time-efficient. For many, the answer is Circuit Training. The Ashland Family YMCA is delighted to feature the Life Fitness Circuit Series, which delivers outstanding results for exercisers of all ages and at every fitness level.

With circuit training, you quickly alternate between strength and cardiovascular exercises, keeping your heart rate elevated and sustained above a resting level throughout the workout. You'll move through a sequence of exercises that deliver a total-body workout that can be completed in 30 minutes. The Circuit Series will help you reach your fitness goals, including weight management, enhanced flexibility, increased agility and improved balance. Proper circuit training can lead to improvements in general conditioning, body composition, muscular endurance and strength, and cardiovascular fitness.

The Life Fitness Circuit Series:
Ab Crunch
Ab Curl
Biceps Curl
Chest Press
Lat Pulldown
Leg Extension
Seated Leg Curl
Seated Row
Shoulder Press
Squat
Triceps Press

The machines are non-intimidating and easy to use. Conveniently positioned push-buttons control resistance, and consistent resistance levels across the Series means you can select the same resistance setting on every machine.  Low starting resistances and small incremental changes in resistance make the Circuit Series especially appealing to strength-training novices.

The Circuit Series recently received the 2006 Industry Equipment Innovation Award from the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world's largest trade association for senior fitness and wellness. In announcing the award, ICAA founder and CEO Colin Milner said, "The Circuit Series helps to improve quality of life for older adults. [We] congratulate Life Fitness on the excellence and creativity demonstrated in these award-winning machines."

Y Health & Wellness Directors Laurie Evans and Andy Eck can give you an orientation and help you get started on a circuit training program. Call 482-9622.

Whatever your fitness goals, the Circuit Series can help you succeed. This is a workout you can call your own!
